THE INFINITE PLEASURES OF THE GREAT UNKNOWN
Introducing Troupe Mabuse
'We must plunge the world into an abyss of terror' Dr. Mabuse 1922
Bock & Vincenzi present a new performance work with Fritz Lang’s celluloid master criminal Dr. Mabuse: an unflinching theatrical celebration of the death of reality.
Dr Mabuse has set his heart on total world domination and has escaped the confines of both his own death and the silver screen. In an act of desperate, deranged cunning, he takes possession of an out-of-work fictional theatre troupe, Troupe Mabuse, to re-invent an entertainment of terror: an all-singing, all-dancing investigation into the crime of representation.
THE INFINITE PLEASURES OF THE GREAT UNKNOWN is a stage show presented within the form of a film. From behind a black cinema screen Troupe Mabuse present a never-ending state of emergency; a fugue state in which fear of the unknown conceals its own controlling force.
Through a language of chaos and abject dark humour Troupe Mabuse have mesmerised audiences and critics alike.
